Breakout: AI in Automation: Between Hype and Reality – A Practical Perspective

AI promises significant productivity gains, but how realistic is this for the automation sector?

In this breakout session, we will examine the current state of AI adoption and share practical industry experiences. We will also demonstrate how companies can effectively integrate AI into their business, engineering and development processes. Key legal and compliance challenges will also be addressed, including data security, intellectual property rights and regulatory requirements.

In addition, the session highlights the emerging potential of humanoid robotics and next‑generation robotic AI models, revealing entirely new paths in automation. Wrapping up, we’ll hold an interactive panel discussion on the trends that will shape the future role of AI in automation, based on the key insights and opportunities covered throughout.

About Norman Rother

Norman Rother has over 25 years of experience leading international engineering teams across various fields. Since 2019, he has served as Director of Engineering and a member of the executive board at XENON, where he plays a key role in driving technological innovation and strategic direction.

With a strong background in software and electronics, Norman holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications from TU Dresden (1992–1997). He further expanded his expertise through a Master’s program in Electrical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison (1995–1996).
